Thanks Jason,

Yes if I do a  ls --help I get the following
BusyBox V1.00-rc2 (2004.08.05:44+0000) multi-call binary
Usage:ls ............

Could you please let me know how to change the kernal command line in the 
redboot ( I am relatively new to Linux, I can just get around).

Or even better how to update the kernel to 2.6.30 if that can solve my problem
