Have you changed/updated the kernel or changed/updated the kernel modules?
It would help to be sure which module locks up the board and whether there
are any error messages generated that could help provide additional clues as
to the cause of the problem.
I suggest you telnet to the board or log in via a serial port so you have a
command prompt where you can issue commands to run programs. Shutdown any of
your own programs that may be running. Use lsmod to see what modules are
already installed. Disconnect any USB devices from the board. Examine the
contents of the loadUSBModules.sh script then issue those commands one at a
time to see which command locks up the board. Either the board "locks up" or
you will be able to issue all the commands and the board is still running.
If one of the commands from loadUSBModules.sh locks up the board, make a
note of any error messages given when you try to load the module. It can
help you narrow down the problem. Perhaps the module has somehow been
corrupted or is the wrong version.
Does one of the commands really lock up the board or is the system trying to
do something that is taking a long time. This is where a network connection
to the board helps. Login a second time to the board. In one session run top
to see statistics on the board such as memory usage and CPU load. Now when
you issue start loading the modules you can check the output from top to see
if the board has locked up or is just very busy trying to execute something.
Check the filesystem on the USB device you are using (if it is a storage
device). Perhaps the filesystem is corrupt or has errors that need fixing.
Let us know what you find out.
