I checked ... some key libraries/program disappeared!!!
logsave from e2fsck is missing
/sbin/route is missing
eth is up, but dns is not working
etc...

ok.... now I have to rebuild all of my environment on my development arm...

I guess one should make a dd of their system once in a while.
