My notes say:
HOWTO boot a factory ts-7260 using:
kernel on board flash
root filesystem usb stick
target:
Can't directly (see manual)
Workaround:
boot as normal
loadUSBModules.sh
loadUSB.sh
I think this was with 7260 running ts-linux and using a usb stick with Debian
on it that I got directly from embeddedARM.
