"debootstrap", eh?  I learned to make file systems from scratch the hard way, this lesson alone is HUGE!  I don't know what to say guys..., !!thanks!!

That's a magic trick, right?   Okay!  So now I have me a clever development environment and can boot j.chitte's kernel!  I'll call that step one of our development.  (Worked out perfectly tho' that I had to redo /etc/apt/sources.lst halfway through)

How's the pre-assembled cross-compiler from TS working out?

Any gotchas I should know about?  If not, I am going to start working on the modules and the kernel build.

And Peter you are right.  Good mailing list archive.  But how to find Matthieu Crapet's:  "linux-2.6.32.3-ts7200_matt-5" patchset?

I am going to go through it all again (there are a few nits), starting with vanilla 2.4.28 deb SD card from TS.  With any luck, I'll make a decent README.

cheers!

Well, if you plan to run this device 24/7 and reliably, avoid heart attacks, I
would suggest you, to not even considering of using USB stack of such ancient
kernel, I've really bad experience with USB stack(mass storage, serial) on
such old kernels.
