Thanks to both of you for the responses!

1. Find Matthieu Crapet's patches for the linux kernel, apply them and so forth. I believe ynezz's patches were an interim thing.

2. Follow Martin Guy's recipe for getting Debian working:

http://martinwguy.co.uk/martin//ts7250/DEBIAN

It's doable. I hope it solves your communications issues at the same time.

If TS doesn't have a solution for you, try a broader search: if it's a hardware or kernel issue, ep93xx is the magic keyword for the ts72xx boards.

Thanks Peter, I will be with this for a while.  (Hopefully you will hear Eureka soon.)

I think, that it depends on flash filesystem you use. I bet TS boards are
flashed with YAFFS(2) or something like this and this filesystem is missing in
OE kernel. I use JFFS2 for example.

Petr:  I'll check on that thanks.  I did get it to boot Friday.

Why you need 2.6.28 for 24-bit ADC? It should work with any kernel, but you
need to port or write the driver for it. Maybe if you give us more details
about the device, somebody could help you.

Thanks.  Only a desire to use our vendor's drivers for their new 4ch USB systems, and
share the ARM port with them, etc.  They are not clear which older kernels their drivers
will compile with.  I could verify that on x86 test machine first.  The older 8ch ADC is on
the parallel port, and it has x86 driver legacy back to RH9.  Once I get to the point of
trying to build these on ARM, I will know more.

I've used some USB CDMA/GSM modem and it worked fine for me, just search for
one which works fine in Linux, usually it's just some RS232->USB converter
which you can use as like any serial device in Linux. I've used it just with
PPP on ts72xx and it was working fine.

Really appreciate this bit of experience here.  So far, I have only wrangled with udev
on these devices.  Not sure at all with 2.4.28.
