Not a lot more involved but definately a little :)  If you stuff 12v 
into the CPU's ADC you'll definitely toast the ADC and quite possibly 
the CPU as well.  What you need to do is use a voltage divider to drop 
the 12v down to something reasonable for the ADC, google it, but it 
basically is two resistors.
