My experience seems similar. Even though I can see the SSID from the
bedroom, which is more than 30 feet from the access point I can't
connect. Moving within ten feet direct line of sight allows me to
connect. Other wifi devices have no trouble connecting from the
bedroom.

I used the same driver; the one that came with the board. I would try
moving the board closer to the access point just for a test. If it
does work then perhaps we can raise this as an issue.
