I used the Etch image, also for the 7400 because the 2.4 image has no valid
Debian repository. Without that you can't install anything. Although
the hardware
is okay my experience in simply getting a working Debian distro working at all
has been disappointing to say the least. I would be happy to run the "certified"
2.4 release if only there were a repository so we could get basic stuff to work.

Surely we don't need to all build our own kernels? I just want to
start using the
board for what I bought it for. The site said it came with Debian -
but if there is
no repository for the "certified" version its not really very useful.
The only image
that worked for me was the "etch" image - although it has also had
issues. It does
boot however.
Sorry to rant - and I know its not the fault of those on this list,
but I am frustrated
that there isn't a working distro one can install and have it work. Right now
I'm trying to get USB working again. It seems that you need to init the USB, and
the init tool (switches on power to USB) is not in the etch image.
I feel the hardware is a good platform, but the software side is
really letting it down.
Rant over.
