I use tmpfs on my 7800s to avoid SD Card lockups.

# mkdir /ramdisk
# mount -t tmpfs -o size=16m tmpfs /ramdisk
# df -h
tmpfs                  16M     0   16M   0% /ramdisk

I would recommend tmpfs over ramfs

Here is the command I use to create a ram disk on a TS-7250:

mkdir /mnt/ramfs [<-- Create the mount point]
mount -t ramfs none /mnt/ramfs -o maxsize=768
