Is it related to the ttts4 and ttts5 interactions you asked about last August:

Pins 7 & 8 share functions for ttts4 and ttts5: either TX/RX or CTS/RTS,
depending on which one you've opened.
Also, if I understand your diagram above, pin 7 & 8 on the header should be
going to pins 2 & 3 on a different D-sub, right?
