I dont see /dev/sda1 being detected there. A usb device yes but I dont see it 
being given /dev/sda1. The last line says it waiting for /dev/sda1 because you 
told it to , not because it found it.

have you got devfs in your kernel and scsi and mass-storage modules built-in ?
