Hi Chris, Thanks for the answer. Now I found what was the problem: the serial port signal handler waked up the other thread's sleep() function. Now I removed the signal handler and set the VTIME for serial port as you mentioned. It works but the usleep() refactoring is remaining. Somebody else offered the select() usage instead of usleep() which is more thread safe solution. I think that will be the safest way of waiting in my program.
