ok sorry, but in my documentation there is no mention of adc0 and port_C0
sharing the same external pin.

Having had a quick look at the EP9301 manual (there maybe a 9302 manual 
these days - for a long time there wasn't), the only thing I can suggest is 
making sure you power down the ADC (ADCPD bit = 1 in the DeviceCfg system 
controller register) and make sure the ADC interface is disabled (ADCEN bit 
= 0 in the same register), then try accessing port C.

I'd be interested in knowing how you get on.
