I am using a stock ts-7800 with the IOGEAR usb-wireless adapter
(zd1211rw chip set) and I am trying to get it connected to my wireless
router. For some reason everything is as if my hardware did not
support DHCP. Here is a list of what I did:
- ifconfig shows both eth0 and eth1 up and running.
- iwconfig shows eth1 with essid "my network" and "HWaddr
00:02:72:72:B8:1F"
- dmesg shows: "SoftMAC: Open Authentication completed with
00:16:b6:f2:8f:ca"
- iwlist eth1 scan returns all available networks every time
That's using the stock config which sets everything for static IP's.
Every time I try to modify the settings in /etc/network/interfaces to
set it for DHCP: "iface eth1 inet dhcp" then
"/etc/init.d/networking restart" the system gives me an error.
also cannot run many of the iwconfig commands, for instance, iwconfig
eth1 key xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx shows:
Error for wireless request "Set Encode" (8B2A) :
SET failed on device eth1 ; Operation not supported.
in both cases dmesg shows:
eth1: could not initialize WEP: load module ieee80211_crypt_wep.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated,
Diego,
