Hi everyone:

This is a bit off-topic but I've been struggling with this for a while.

I need to locate some IR LEDs like those used in the IR nightvision
cameras. I need to illuminate specific places and would like to place
some LEDs there.

I've gone through an assortment of IR LEDs from Mouser and the like,
and none put out enough light for a run-of-the-mill IR camera, even in
arrays of 20 LEDs. (I've used both webcams and ipcams, some modified
by me to remove the IR filter and others that are sensitive to IR.) I
can get enough light if I illuminate an object from about 5" but not
enough from the 18" I need.

I see IR illuminators advertised that claim a range in the 10+ feet.
Where can I get the LEDs they use in these arrays?

Thanks,

--Yan
