Don't you want /dev/ttyUSB0 here?
When I plug in a Keyspan device, I see both:
crw-r--r-- 1 root root 189, 133 2008-10-08 17:30 /dev/bus/usb/002/006,
and
crw-rw---- 1 root uucp 188, 0 2008-10-08 17:30 /dev/ttyUSB0
Do you have both the usbserial module and your USB hw module (keyspan,
etc) loaded?

has tried something similar, I would like to know the name of the usb
devices created.
