By default, getty has a hold on the serial ports.  Make sure this line:

#T1:23:respawn:/sbin/getty -L ttyS1 115200 vt100

Is commented out in /etc/inittab and reboot (although I've heard a reboot is not necessary).

Hi everybody,

I have configured slip on my ts7800:

/sbin/slattach -p slip -s 19200 -L /dev/ttyS1 &
/sbin/ifconfig sl0 192.168.171 pointopoint 192.168.170 up

properly adding route, but ping to a linux fedora pc slip configured
doesn't run.

The same experiment runs without any problems between two linux fedora pc.

Did anyone try to configure slip with good results?

thanks in advance

Paolo
