You're right, I'll use a PIC with something like a 4-word program to receive a
byte on RS232
and then step it out on 2 DIO pins. It always gets me that PIC uses 1 for
input and 0 for
output while the Cirrus chip uses the opposite convention.
I wanted to avoid having to add anything at the TS7250 end.
If I get bored, I can add things like checksums and additional commands to the
RS232 data.
