I have a Western Digital Scorpio 60Gb drive up and running fine.

The SATA modules are not loaded by default.  Add the following line in your /etc/modules and reboot.

    mvsata

To test this without rebooting, just 'modprobe mvsata' as root.  You should see /dev/sda recognized in your 'dmesg' output.

Good luck.

goal is to save lots & lots of generated data to the SATA HD.

Has anyone had any luck connecting a hard drive to the SATA_0 port on
the TS-7800? I connected the hard drive, powered it, ran dmesg and it
did not locate it. Searched the /dev for /hda or /sda and found nothing.
Is support for a SATA hard drive available with the shipped 2.6 kernel
or does the kernel need re-compiled with SATA specific drivers?

The skeleton TS documentation for the TS-7800 has no mention of how to
do it.
TIA
