There's a small program (153 lines) call microterm.c, that I've put into the 
files section. Its' 
even more minimal than miniterm, but shows the important aspects of serial 
comms.  Sorry, 
it's a bit light on comments.  The Linux man pages explain what all the system 
calls do.
