I've checked inittab, and neither getty nor mingetty are being run,
all lines with them are commented

JP2 was already removed

The cable has been shown functional. Communication between two XP
laptops with hyperterm works just fine.

The exact same behavior is show when using com2, the ts7200 can send
but doesn't seem to recieve.

Suspecting hyperterminal I've tried again with Tera Term, and there is
no difference. My USB-serial converter is blinking when data is being
sent to the ts computer, so it's not a case of nothing on the line either.
