There is no real API for drawing on the display unless you install QT - but 
that's far too big 
for my needs.  So you will have to do your own drawing, and you don't need the

fbgen gives you the /dev/fb/0 device. As mentioned, you can't just cat 
something.jpeg > 
/dev/fb/0, it will have to be in the 5/6/5 colour format mentioned before.

And I assume the fbcon-cfb16 is giving you the console on the frame buffer, 
exactly what 
you don't want.

It looks like Peter Elliott is ahead of the game, except he uses the fram 
buffer on the 
TS7800, which seems to have slightly different interface than the TS7KV on a 
TS7250.

Expect LOTS of dim questions when my car arrives!
