I am using an FTDI USB/serial dongle successfully. Mine is a single port
device.

I don't supply parameters to insmod usbserial, but I do load ftdi_sio. Try
that?

insmod pcipool
insmod usbcore
insmod usb-ohci
insmod usb-ohci-ep93xx
insmod usbserial
insmod ftdi_sio
