You might also want to consider using another terminal program. For some unexplained reason, Hyperterminal often has difficulties with serial port connections, where it just won't connect no matter what you try. My company finally had to abandon recommending it to our customers because of the number of tech support headaches it was causing. Try an alternative like Alphacom or Token2 Plus.
