Hi Gabriel,

The easiest way is to use a MAX232 driver chip. It's a dual RS232 powered by

Well, that depends on where you're coming from ;)

I'm hoping to find something off-the-shelf as it's a fairly common problem. Our product is fairly low-volume, I can't manufacture as efficiently as most chinese/taiwanese bigco's so I'm still hoping for something off-the-shelf.

It turns out Globalsat has a large number of "interface kits" for various types of pda's, I'm looking at the specs of those, there's a good chance at least one of those kits does rs-232 -> TTL.

BTW, anyone looking for a low-priced small waterproof gps + antenna: I'm quite happy with the mr 350 from them. The gps receiver is essentially built-in to the antenna, is waterproof and looks real solid. Our original plan was to go for a gps module (i.e. EM-402, Copernicus, Lassen IQ), put that on a daughter board combined with some waterproof external antenne but at the price of the mr 350 and what it offers (fits our requirements nicely), I'm going for that option. Sure saves us a bunch of design and manufacturing work!
