There are two FPGA files supplied with the ts7300, depending on which 
is configured to load at boot you can get either 640x480 or 800x600.

Various people on the list have been working on a 2.6 port for the TS-
72xx, I've not seen any TS-7300 2.6 talk. I would recommend getting 
the TS-7800 together with a TS-7KV if you need 2.6.

You can take a standard 256MB+ SD card and the file of the FTP site 
and using dd fro linux you can create the boot card supplied with the 
unit.

As you state, you need to ensure that the modules that may use the 
FPGA supplied hardware are either not loaded or configured not to 
access the device. At which point you can change the FPGA files. You 
loose all the functions (other than ethernet) provided by the FPGA 
(including video).
