Jim, Make sure you have adjusted clock frequency before lock the time by ntpclient. More details are here: http://doolittle.icarus.com/ntpclient/HOWTO On my boards slope was about 215ppm, very close to default ntpclient limit 230ppm, so do not forget to measure it and force system frequency clock to some reasonable value.
