Jim,

Make sure you have adjusted clock frequency before lock the time by ntpclient.

On my boards slope was about 215ppm, very close to default ntpclient limit 230ppm,
so do not forget to measure it and force system frequency clock to some reasonable value.

dunno if this is it, but I believe....

ntpclient will slowly adjust (or even not adjust for very large
discrepancyies) the system date if the discrepancy is too
much. I usually use the ntpdate to force synchronisation first then leave
the ntp client to keep best accuracy.
