Hi Yan,
The splash screen graphic is simply a block 16-bit data which has
been gzipped. On boot the initialization script simply gunzips the
file to the framebuffer.
I used PaintShopPro and gimp to create a replacement image and then
wrote a small program to output the data array to a file. I then
gzipped and transferred it to the mounted (mount /dev/sdcard0/disc0/
part2 /initrd) second partition on the boot SD card.
If it's any help I can post my splash screen maker code.
Note: I also use this technique to load gzipped icon pages into the
background screens on the 7300 from which I pull them as needed.
