No, I guess I haven't.

I was under the impression that the kernel that currently resides on
the TS-7250 board (whatever was there when I bought it) is already
patched for use with RTAI. So I thought that I could just build my
code that has calls to the RTAI API and everything would be fine.

So it appears that I have skipped a step?
