It all depends... you may want to hook-up a USB device, or find a rs-232 based one (ts-7260 probably has regular rs-232 ports you can use). OTOH, there are plenty basic gps chips you could use as well. They tend to be ! a lot smaller. Search for Lassen IQ, uBlox or check out the gps modules section at www.sparkfun.com. You usually only need to provide power, the chip itself provides ttl rs-232.

For software, be sure to check out gpsd (gpsd.berlios.de).
