I just spent the last few hours banging my head against the wall
trying to figure this out. I've read a couple of documents online
about constructing VGA compatible output from an FPGA. I have
successfully divided the 75MHz clock and produced horizontal and
vertical sync pulses that my monitor is happy with and I can verify
that it is properly syncing to them. However, no matter what I try I
can't seem to output any color data. I have attempted writing to
red_pad, green_pad, blue_pad to no avail and I've also tried writing
straight to the headerpin_o pins that they should correspond to and
I'm having no luck there either.
There is a comment in the open core file ts7300_top.v that says that
pin 18 can be externally driven high to disable the VGA DACs. I'm
doing no such thing, but it sure is behaving like they're disabled.
Is there some other modification I have to make to the open core
template as given in order to be able to drive VGA signals out the DACs?
Any help would be much appreciated.
