If you're looking for loads of pins you can always expand. I quicky ran my TS-7200 board out of pins (Connect a matrix keypad and LCD and you're soon out of pins) I conected up a Maxim MAX7322 i2c port expander onto two GPIO's andmove the keypad to it.  Now I have 8 pinsleft ont eh port expander and 6 pins left on the TS board to play with. I'd be happy to share the code I have for the keypad and i2c driver (I didn't write the bitbang driver, merly incorperated it)

Heck, it's a TS board. I have LOADs of pins. But I also want to use
loads of pins for other things eventually, so if one trade-off is a slow
display, I'm fine with that. The kinds of things I would be using the
system for would generally use the display as a kind of last resort
when an on-site worker doesn't have a laptop with a serial interface
to log in with.

Happy hacking
Jim

Thanks for the hints. I'll check out your site and code.
