[ts-7000] Quite possibly the dumbest question ever from a complete beginner ...

Hi there.. I am trying to connect my serial port on my win xp (64) pc
to the 7400 board using the 9440 daughter board.. I have set the
serial port to 115200 8N1 no flow control but I am not getting any
output to my screen.. My laptop (beside my PC) is connected to the
ethernet port on the 7400 and that is working fine. 

Can someone please tell me where I have gone wrong so I can get on to
my next road block of booting debian off the sd card...
