JFFS2 is designed to be used with raw flash devices (mtd device). It
depends on having "extra bytes" per sector to keep metadata, does wear
leveling, etc.
An SD card already contains a controller that makes it appear as a
generic block device with 512 byte sectors and does wear leveling
internally. So it should be used as a regular block device, and not a
raw flash device.
