Also, the TS-7300 (or other models) would make great Modbos TCP/IP to Modbus serial bridges. I have the software to do that, but need to put some finishing touches on it. The TS-7400 (or other models) could also be used to cheaply extend network access to a remote location over 1 km, via PPP over full duplex RS-485, or even via wireless using the Maxstream XBeePro that will allow you to extend your network one mile (line of sight outside), again using PPP.
