Thanks for the clarification. It made perfect sense in my mind when I wrote
it, but you're right, it should be the other way around. I've updated the
UserManual.txt file to reflect this.

I'm thinking now it is probably better to reverse steps 4 and 5, and so I've
made that change to the manual as well. The reason is that NiMH batteries
typically don't come fully charged - the discharge rate is too high, so
after a month or so the batteries would be nearly flat. So if JP3 is
removed before power is applied, the BAT3 is actually trying to power the
board in a case where it is almost certainly unable to.

Correct. Power should Only be connect to the TS-BAT3 board, and not not the
main board.

> Do I have to connect the TS-BAT3 to the main board?

I'm not sure I'm following you... you already connected the TS-BAT3 to the
main board after downloading and installing the software, yes?

> I expected the mainboard to be powered by the TS-BAT3 but nothing happens.

There are two cases where this won't be true:
1. The TS-BAT3 board has been put in sleep mode (might be the case if the
batteries are really low...)
2. The input voltage to the BAT3 board drops below the shutoff threshold
(iirc around 4.3V)

Once you verify you have a good voltage coming into the TS-BAT3 board you
can verify the board is not in sleep mode by momentarily connecting a jumper
across pins 5/6 on the "ISP" header. Pins 5/6 are the pair closest to the
"P" in "ISP" - the user manual has a diagram illustrating this.

Hope the above fixes the problem you're seeing. If not we'll be happy to
help you further.
