Partition 1 is a raw image, there is no FS. The second partition is not
marked as ext2 because originally it was a compressed image and not a
straight ext2 filesystem. AFAIK the boot loader still supports that mode,
but for the purposes of fast booting, its now faster to boot from an
uncompressed initrd then to take the time to decompress.
