Is that a space between ttyAM0, and 115200?  If so, its likely the 
baudrate isn't being set to 115200 since there is not supposed to be 
a space there. 

The TS7300 (and all other boards) will not spit out color control 
codes on the serial port consoles.  The TS7300 does that only on the 
video console where it is known to be supported.
