I miss that about my Amiga, too.  :(

In theory, it could be done. The hardest part would probably be 
actually building a reliable mechanical eject assembly for an SD card. 
Building a mechanical eject for a USB stick would be fairly easy - just 
a solenoid to push against the case, if it weren't for the fact that 
they come in so many darn physical configurations.

Hmm - I wonder if any of the USB stick manufacturers would custom 
design a case with a latch mechanism for a reasonable fee?
