Hi Andrea,

There is an option on the TS-7200 order page to add OP-485-FD full-
duplex (RS-422) and OP-485-HD half-duplex (RS-485) comminications to
COM port 2. I'm not sure how easy it would be to retrofit (or whether
it needs a special CPLD programming).

The Full-Duplex option can also run in Half-Duplex mode but not the
other way round. The cntrol over DE (Output enable pin) on the RS-485
tranceiver is generated automatically by the CPLD so you don't need
to switch the transmitter on and off in your own code.

In general when looking to run long distances I've always found it
better to use an electrically isolated communications interface, so
it may be better to take the standard RS232 output and pass it
through one of the many isolated RS232 to RS485 converters.

Regards,

PJE
