[ts-7000] Graphics LCD Screen

I'm working on a project that requires an LCD/Touchpanel screen.  I'm been doing some development with the TS-7250, but I've been asked to drive a color graphics LCD directly without an LCD controller.  This seems like an insane waste of time to me.  Apparently the vendor is claiming that people drive their LCD screen all the time with an ARM9 processor without a graphics controller.  Does anybody here have any experience with this?
