I was a little saddened by Jesse's response to the whole 2.6 thing.
Understandably, with a small company you have to pick and choose what
you apply your resources too. I have no beef about that. However,
I'm not really sanguine with "well, the customer wants it, but we know
best for them". I see plenty of that in my day job :-)

There are other reasons for wanting 2.6 besides just "must have the
newest". Yes, better real-time performance and interrupt latency
would be nice; in fact, I would absolutely die for it in my
application. But I'm making due with what's in 2.4. What also would
be nice is getting the kernel with the newest code--all the latest bug
fixes, etc.  And being able to use and/or port new drivers or code;
any new development is going on in 2.6. The kernel model is different
enough between 2.4 and 2.6 that it's a significant pain in the caboose
to backport a driver you might have that's in current development.
Those are just my reasons. There may be other ones, equally as valid.

My two cents. I don't argue that Technologic typically has done a
very good job in supporting their customers. But my suspicion would
be that you'd find more customers who want 2.6 than who want WinCE.
Of course, I haven't done the market research, but my logic goes as
follows: this platform is perfectly geared to both hobbyists (who will
want to tinker, i.e. Linux). Also it appeals to small startup
companies like myself, who can't afford to design their own boards and
want a low cost hardware platform that has a low cost (i.e. free) run-
time component. I don't necessarily see WinCE fufilling the same
role. So the effort spent porting WinCE to this platform seems like
it could be better applied to a 2.6 port.

Do I want it bad enough that I can afford the time to either do it
myself or pay Technologic to do it? No. But if it were there, I'd
certainly upgrade and be a happier customer for it.
