Hello, Gianni,Thanks so much for the tips and sorry for my late replay .My
equipment consists of a 4-channel twelco TWLP 44 field mixer and a Sony PCM D
100 as recorder.I'll try to arrange the hydrophones as you recommended, one on
the surface (2 meters) and another further down (8/9 meters), unfortunately the
cable of the hydrophones is 10 meters long.To avoid the noise of the cable
usually wrap the hydrophones to a floating sponge, those that are used to make
water gym.As soon as I have done the first tests I will let you know.Thank you
so much for your advice.
Best
Francesco

You don't need to be very close to them to record them. Their noises travel
quite a distance.
Hope it's helpful.
All the best.Steve.

Hello everyoneIn the small town where I live, on the south-east coast of
Sicily, in a marine reserve very close to the town, dolphins are often
spotted.I own a pair of Hydrophones Acquarian H2a and a friend could help me
with his small boat. I know almost nothing about these beautiful mammals. What
is the right way to approach them? What is the right time?I know that there are
two types, some migrate and some are sedentary.Any kind of suggestion, books or
any other information is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
BestFrancesco

Hi Francesco, why the mixer ? try to connect the hydrophones directly to
the microphone input, eventually use the low gain setting or the
attenuator, if available.
