The most important element for a successful recording is your microphone. =
This one-day intensive gives a thorough introduction to the complex technol=
ogy of microphones. It's a good preparation for our annual field recording =
workshop. Learn about the different mic mechanisms (dynamic, condenser, ele=
ctret), powering schemes (phantom, PIP), and directional patterns (omni, ca=
rdioid, figure-eight, super-directional). You will have an opportunity to t=
ry different types of microphones to determine which is most useful for the=
kind of recording you want to do. Dan Dugan will teach and the NSS will ho=
st the event at Dan's laboratory. =0D
Breakfast and lunch are provided. RSVP so we can save your place and prepa=
re meals. =0D
