it sparse where I live (suburb in Melbourne, Australia), but if I record al=
l night, I generally capture at least one pass in summer, one a week in win=

I tried using a computer to play a test tone to calibrate my bat detector, =
but was defeated by the inbuilt 20kHz filtering. I ended up using my Sony P=
CM-M10, which can play 96kHz sample rate wav files. I think I was able to g=
et 40kHz out of it, using the built in speaker. Perhaps your recorder can d=
