I think they=92re being vague because there=92s a short construction season=
and it isn=92t predictable whether the contractors will be able to finish =
before winter stops work.

I have been recording every year as a research project in the three sequoia=
groves. This year Tuolumne Grove had so much water noise I could barely he=
ar birds at all. Merced Grove was ok, and Upper Mariposa Grove (by NPS rese=
arch permit and special arrangement with the contractor) was superb.

If Mariposa Grove reopens I highly recommend hiking up to the Museum buildi=
ng as early as you can. The roads up there are permanently closed to traffi=
c and few visitors walk that far that early.

Sequoia National Park is great, too. I=92ve recorded in Crescent Meadow, fo=
llowing the lead of Bernie Krause.
