My understanding is that a TRRS cable can give you a mono mic input, and ou=
tput two channels to drive headphones. There is no analog stereo input on a=
ny iPhone.
To get stereo into an iPhone it is necessary to use an accessory that inclu=
des stereo D-to-A converters, and connects to the charging port of the iPho=
ne. 30-pin or Lightening, depending on the age of the phone.

That has a stereo line input on a 3.5mm jack.
Experiment a lot to be sure you get the levels right. I have never used thi=
s device so I only recommend it on its promised capability.
