The 3-d printing technology shapeways uses is a form of laser sintering, la=
yer by layer and is strong with jusr enough =91give=92. I print my Brahma t=

>>I'm curious to hear your opinion of the finish on the mount, and the stre=
ngth. I've seen 3D printed stuff that was very rough, and also brittle.=A0

The general texture is a bit rough (I ordered the white nylon version), but=
 I don't care about that. =A0 Actually, it isn't slippery I guess which cou=
ld be a bonus. =A0But the roughness is texture only, it looks even on the s=
urface.

As for its durability, time will tell. =A0So far it has stood up to quite a=
bit of not-too-gentle use without any problems. =A0I have dropped it sever=
al times, had it fall to the ground when a tripod fell over, etc. and it is=
 unmarred.

As I said, I am quite pleased so far but I've only had it a few weeks. =A0I=
t is overpriced for what it is but it isn't offensively priced. =A0If it sa=
id Rode on the side it would have been $99 rather than the $35 I paid.
