Dear colleagues, I am not sure this topic has been discussed here; if so, I=
am sorry for being repetitive.
I am currently interested in evaluating and comparing smart phone devices =
(mainly Android) and their usefulness in recording quality bird recordings.=
I am aware that the main problem with mobile phones is usually their mics,=
while their digital converters are mostly ok. However, I haven't found man=
y discussions or blogs specifically comparing multiple models, particularil=
y on bird song (very low/high pitched sounds, distance from recorder, backg=
round noise ,etc). Is anyone here using, or used, mobile different phone mo=
dels for bird recordings? Are there any suggestions of small mics to use wi=
th along with these phones? My main interest is to document some records, n=
ot necessarily to obtain high quality recordings for spectrogram analysis (=
I also carry a Tascam DR 100 MK II with me, though still with no external m=
icrophone).
Best regards,
Marcelo Villegas
